The short answer
Paper cards suit a simple workflow without installation or connectivity. Digital cards become useful when guests need visible progress and the venue needs managed operation records. A switch makes sense when those benefits justify onboarding, training and costs. Digital format alone does not guarantee retention.

1. Guest convenience
A paper card can be handed over immediately, but guests need to carry it. An app card avoids searching a wallet, but guests first need access to the app. Check whether your audience is comfortable with those steps. A polished screenshot is not a substitute for testing the real journey.
2. Records and disputes
For paper cards, decide whether lost stamps can be restored or several cards combined. For digital cards, check the history, staff permissions and correction process. StampiGram’s critical operations are designed around server validation and an operation journal; this is not a claim of independent security certification.
3. Connectivity
Paper does not require a connection. StampiGram’s live issuing and redemption workflow does. Test connectivity at the counter and explain the failure procedure to staff. A screen that has not refreshed is not sufficient reason to issue the reward again.
4. Costs and scale
Paper involves printing, replacement and manual administration. Digital programs involve service costs, training, devices and possibly messaging. The reward itself costs money in both models. Compare the same period and number of venues, rather than a free sample against a full launch.
5. A careful transition
Explain whether existing stamps remain valid, who confirms balances and when paper cards stop being accepted. Do not promise automatic migration before agreeing the workflow. Start with a limited group and collect feedback from both guests and staff.
Action plan
- Identify the current problem.
- Check guest willingness to use an app.
- Test connectivity and counter workflow.
- Compare total costs.
- Define old-stamp rules before switching.
What to measure
Compare repeat visits, staff effort and disputed operations. More digital cards issued without purchases is not evidence of a better result.
Open the calculatorWhere StampiGram fits
StampiGram displays stamp progress in its customer app with a separate staff workflow. Apple Wallet, offline operations and automatic paper-card migration are not claimed.
FAQ
Are digital cards always better?
No. Paper may be sufficient for a simple small operation. Choose based on the records you need and the convenience of actual guests.
Can we run both during a transition?
Consider a transition period with consistent terms, double-counting controls and a clear process for confirming balances.
